How to make useful mini saw. 3D printed hobby saw. I designed this saw to be small but functional and mighty.
Most parts are printed with PLA filament. Foot parts should be printed from flexible TPU material. A vise is available to fix the object to be cut. All parts of the vise can be printed with PLA filament if not used for cutting metal. But if metal cutting is to be done, I recommend printing the parts that come into contact with the metal with ABS or ASA filament. Because metal can get very hot during the cutting process. PLA cannot withstand high heat. PETG can also be used if the metal cutting process will not take too long.
It can cut any hardwood up to 17mm thick. It can also easily cut aluminum pipes or hollow square profiles. The 775 brushed DC motor must have 100W or more power. 24V ones are ideal. You can also use 12V motors, but a higher current capacity power supply is required.
The angle of the vise can be changed up to 45 degrees. In this way, it provides the opportunity to make angle cuts up to 45°. However, when the angle of the vice is increased, the object to be cut moves away from the saw blade. Therefore, it may not be possible to cut wide objects at an angle. To solve this problem, I’m thinking of designing a vise mechanism that works differently in the future.
The circular part between the motor and the motor bearing must be printed with PETG, ABS or ASA. In this way, the temperature of the engine cannot damage the engine bed we print with PLA.
